- The
Manohara
Hotel is the only accomodation that is
actually inside of the gates of the Borobudur Archeological Park. It is
located just a short walk ( 200m) to the southeast of the hill upon
which Borobudur stands. This is a great advantage for those who wish to
arrive at the top of the monument early in the morning to beat the
on-rushing crowds of tourists. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
They can even arrange sunrise outings for visitors who desire to watch
the sun come up while stationed at the top of Borobudur's summit
(see events calendar below). For futher information on Manohara room
rates, availability and bookings, or to set up customized tours of
other archaeological sites in Borobudur's general vicinity such as
Candi Ngawen or Candi Canggal, please contact the sales manager Jeem
at: manohara@magelang.wasantara.net.id.

Taste
of Java: Borobudur
is sublime, but why stop there? By Ron Gluckman,
Time Asia magazine
- Temples in
Central Java: Some
moments in life make one feel as if there were no longer any distance
between heaven and earth, and in the creative blending into the whole,
the sense of life is being revealed. Such an emotion is experienced
when one ascends the stairs of Borobudur, Buddhist marvel of stone, in
a full tropical moon-night.
- For a photo
survey of Indonesian temples, see the Indonesia Candi
Web page, which contains about 280 photographs of more
than 125 Candi.
